Mr Malcolm Crundwell has been a Consultant Urologist at the Royal Devon and Exeter
Hospital since 2001. He qualified in 1988 from Cambridge University and Kings College,
London. He was awarded an MD from the University of Birmingham in 1998 for his research
on genetic alterations in early prostate cancer. He completed his higher surgical training
in urology in the West Midlands in 2000, having been awarded the gold medal in urology by
the Intercollegiate Examination Board.
His current interests in urology are oncology and minimally invasive surgery. Procedures offered
include ultrasound guided prostate biopsy, vasectomy and laparoscopic nephrectomy.
He is the prinicpal investigator for the Exeter Tissue Bank
and the lead for the NTAC project on photodynamic diagnosis in bladder cancer. He lives
near Exeter with his wife and four children and his hobbies include sailing, squash,
mountain biking and running.
